Rangpur (BRUR), organized a freshers’ reception, career guideline program, and cultural evening for the students of the 2024–25 academic session. The program was held at the university’s Swadhinata Smarok Ground from 2:30 pm.

Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Shaykh Mohammad Jamal Uddin delivered the keynote speech. The event was presided over by Dawah Society President Mosharaf Hossain and attended by BRUR Proctor Dr. Md. Ferdous Rahman, Student Counseling and Guidance Office Director Prof. Dr. Md. Elias Pramanik, BRUR Central Jame Mosque Khatib Dr. Rakib Uddin Ahmed, along with several faculty members.

In the freshers’ reception segment, over 1,000 newly admitted students were welcomed with the Holy Qur’an, flower bouquets, pens, and key rings. Students from other faiths were gifted diaries. Speakers emphasized career guidance, academic development, and moral values, urging students to balance knowledge for both worldly life and the hereafter.

Dawah Society sources said the objective of the program was to create a positive academic atmosphere, guide students toward career success, and promote healthy cultural practices.

Freshers attending the event remarked that the program inspired them to embrace religious teachings alongside academic learning, adding that morality and faith are essential for a meaningful life.

Event organizing committee member Mehedi Hasan expressed delight at the freshers’ response, saying: “We feel blessed to have organized such a program and hope to continue this initiative in the future.”

General Secretary Baizid Shikder noted: “Like last year, we have hosted this event with the aim of spreading welfare for both this life and the hereafter.”

President Mosharaf Hossain termed the event a success: “Every student received a translated copy of the Qur’an, a key ring, T-shirt, and pen. If the freshers follow the speakers’ guidance, by Allah’s will, they will achieve both worldly and spiritual progress.”

After the Maghrib prayer, the program concluded with a cultural evening featuring Islamic songs and ghazals performed by the country’s popular cultural group Saimum Shilpigoshthi, with support from BRUR’s cultural organization Rongon Shilpigoshthi.
