With vibrant enthusiasm and the slogan “Let the latent talent flourish through the stream of writing,” the Jagannath University (JnU) unit of the Bangladesh Torun Column Lekhok Forum celebrated the forum’s 7th founding anniversary on Thursday (24 July).

To mark the occasion, a spirited rally was organized, beginning at noon from the university’s Central Shaheed Minar. The colorful procession passed through the Science Building and the Faculty of Social Sciences, finally concluding in front of the Rafique Building with a ceremonial cake-cutting.

Throughout the rally, students enthusiastically chanted slogans including:
“Happy, happy, happy day,”
“It’s the birthday of the Young Column,”
“Entering the 7th year – Bangladesh Torun Column Forum,”
“Patriotism and courage – JnU’s column warriors,”
and
“Let the latent talent flourish through the stream of writing.”

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Kader Nagib, President of the JnU unit, said, “The Bangladesh Torun Column Forum is more than just an organization—it instills patriotism and humanity in young minds. It inspires us to embrace truth and express it through our words. We’re proud to be part of this creative movement.”

Rakibul Islam, General Secretary of the JnU unit, added, “This forum is awakening the dormant potential of hundreds of young writers. With students from 22 universities actively involved, we aim to be a force of social change. Our vision is to one day see this initiative expand beyond borders, with Jagannath University leading the way.”

The anniversary celebration drew participation from both current leaders and active members of the organization.

Notably, the Bangladesh Torun Column Lekhok Forum was established on 23 July 2018, with a vision to empower young writers and promote intellectual engagement. Since its inception, the organization has been providing aspiring writers with mentorship, opportunities for publication, and platforms for development through meetings, seminars, and workshops.
