New Committee of Jagannath University Reporters Unity Begins Its Journey

The Jagannath University Reporters’ Unity (JnURU) has formed its new Executive Committee for the 2025–26 session, aiming to strengthen the culture of ethical and responsible campus journalism.
Md. Jahangir Alam, Jagannath University correspondent of Dainik Swadesh Protidin, has been elected as President, while Md. Zahidul Hasan, correspondent of Nagorik Television, has been elected as General Secretary.
The committee was officially approved on Sunday (17 August) by Chief Advisor Imtiaz Uddin, Advisors Abu Hanif and Risat Rahman, along with immediate past President Amrit Roy and General Secretary Umme Rahnuma Radia.
Other elected members of the committee are: Vice President: Md. Shafiqul Islam, Joint General Secretary: Md. Rasheduzzaman Rashed, Organizing Secretary: Md. Mujahidul Islam, Office Secretary: Hasib Sardar, Treasurer: Mahfuzur Rahman, Executive Members: Rafid Ad-Din Raem, Shrikanto Sutradhar, Poly Akter, and Srijon Saha.
Expressing his gratitude, newly elected President Md. Jahangir Alam said: Being elected President of JnU Reporters’ Unity is undoubtedly a proud and responsible moment. This honor is the result of our members’ collective effort and dedication. Through independent, neutral, and truthful journalism, we will guide campus journalism toward a more objective and responsible path.
General Secretary Md. Zahidul Hasan shared his vision: This is not just a position—it marks the beginning of a new journey to advance campus journalism. Journalism is not only about reporting news but also about serving society with responsibility. I will work to enhance the quality of journalism, organize training workshops, and ensure fact-based, neutral reporting. My priority will be to keep the organization united while valuing every member’s opinion.
With the new committee in place, JnURU looks forward to further strengthening its role in fostering professionalism, ethical reporting, and constructive journalism at Jagannath University.
