Dreams of the Pen, Path of the Forum: Freshers’ Introduction Program Held at JnU BTCL

The Jagannath University (JnU) branch of the Bangladesh Young Columnist Forum organized a virtual program titled “Dreams of the Pen, Path of the Forum: Freshers’ Introduction” on Wednesday (August 20) from 10:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
The session was presided over by Abdul Kader Nagib, President of the JnU branch, and conducted by Pratik Mondol, a forum member.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Rifat and verses from the Gita by Adrita Das. Cultural performances followed, including a ghazal by Abdul Kader Nagib, songs by Tawhida Sultana and Rishad Ahmed, and poetry recitations by Nusrat Jahan Smonika and Pratyaksha Roy.
The discussion session featured distinguished speakers, including: Amjad Hossain Hridoy, Reporter, Dainik Kalbela and Central President, Bangladesh Young Columnist Forum, Imran Hossain, Reporter, Samakal; President, JnU Journalists’ Association; and former General Secretary, JnU branch of the forum, Israfil Alam Rafil, Former General Secretary, JnU branch, Abdul Kader Nagib, President, JnU branch, Rakibul Islam, General Secretary, JnU branch
Speakers urged newcomers to remain consistent in writing, emphasizing the importance of reading, practice, and constructive criticism.
Former General Secretary Israfil Alam Rafil said, “The first condition of writing is reading. To write well, one must analyze articles in national newspapers. Newcomers should begin with short pieces, which have a greater chance of publication.”
Forum Central President and Dainik Kalbela reporter Amjad Hossain Hridoy remarked, “There is no alternative to writers in building Bangladesh. Writers think differently, beyond convention, which makes them invaluable to society.”
Imran Hossain, Samakal reporter and President of JnU Journalists’ Association, stated, “Everyone has hidden talents, and writing is one of the best ways to express them. Students should develop an interest in writing on international issues and economics.”
Forum President (JnU branch) Abdul Kader Nagib highlighted, “To enrich writing, one must read more and seek feedback from experienced writers.”
Forum General Secretary Rakibul Islam added, “Success is possible in writing, and our forum’s writers are proof of that.”
Forum member Rifat Hossain noted, “It does not matter whether your writing is published or not; the important thing is to keep writing.”
New members also introduced themselves during the program, with Nusrat Jahan Smonika and Pratyaksha Roy stressing the need for such initiatives on a regular basis.
The forum announced that it will host a Freshers’ Reception and Writer’s Award Ceremony on September 2, with the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University and other distinguished guests in attendance.
