Nayon to Lead Newly Formed Prothom Alo Bondhushava Unit at Sonargaon University

To nurture compassion, creativity, and cultural consciousness among young minds, a new unit of Prothom Alo Bondhushava was officially launched at Sonargaon University on Saturday (August 2). The 15-member convening committee was announced at a vibrant inauguration ceremony held at the university auditorium on Green Road, Dhaka.

The event was graced by Professor Dr. Shamim Ara Hasan, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Sonargaon University, as chief guest. Special guest Professor Bulbul Ahmed, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, also delivered his remarks, while Professor Md. Al-Amin Molla, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, presided over the session.

Reflecting on his own experience, Professor Bulbul Ahmed said, I was once a part of Bondhushava. It is a platform where students contribute their time, intellect, and creativity to bring light into society.

Jafar Sadiq, President of the Bondhushava National Committee, emphasized the power of volunteerism and networking Bondhushava members prioritize others over themselves. In today’s world, networking is crucial for students, and Bondhushava is building such a network across the country to help nurture skilled, aware, and civic-minded future leaders.

Among the speakers were Abdur Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Sonargaon University; Dr. Redwan Mahmud, Joint General Secretary of the National Committee; Ashfaquzzaman, Advisor of Dhaka Metropolitan Bondhushava; and Hasan Mahmud Samrat, General Secretary of the Dhaka City Unit.

Shaharia Ahmed Nayan, the newly appointed Convener of the unit, shared his vision Today is not just an event; it is the beginning of sowing dreams. We are working to include students from all departments to form a full-fledged committee. Our aim is to empower students beyond textbooks to become humane, aware, and courageous leaders. Bondhushava is that ideal platform where youth can rediscover their purpose.

Convener: Shaharia Ahmed Nayan, Member Secretary: Ali Asgar Ishtiaq, Joint Conveners: Marzia Akhter Ononna and Mohammad Zubayer Turjo Members: Robiul Islam, Tinni Khatun, Fatema Akter Tisha, Kaberi Chakraborty, Mosammat Safa Akter, S M Jahangir Adil, Nuzhat Nasim, Alif Mia, Shahadat Hossain Mesaid, Zakir Hossain, and Mushfiqur Rahman Miraz. The event was conducted by committee member Kaberi Chakraborty. Among other guests were Shakib Hasan, Publicity and Publications Secretary of the National Committee, and Tahsin Ahmed, Digital Content Assistant, along with other members of the Bondhushava network.

The unit has already begun planning social and humanitarian activities, including reading circles, tree plantation drives, and establishing a voluntary blood donation network. A recruitment campaign for new members is also actively ongoing.

As Shaharia Nayon concluded, This is just the beginning. Through Bondhushava, we aim to build a compassionate and conscious generation ready to lead with heart, mind, and action.
